Jewelry Repair That Honors Your Story
Every piece of jewelry carries a memory - an engagement that changed everything, an anniversary that marked decades together, a grandmother's ring that's traveled through generations. When something that meaningful needs care, it deserves more than a quick fix. It deserves the kind of attention we've been giving jewelry for nearly fifty years.
We Know What Your Jewelry Really Means
Here's something we've learned after three generations in this business: people don't bring us broken jewelry. They bring us pieces of their lives that happen to need repair.
That engagement ring? It's not just a loose prong - it's the moment he got down on one knee. That vintage bracelet? It's your grandmother's smile, her stories, the way she'd clasp it before Sunday dinner. We get it. And that's exactly why we treat every repair like it's irreplaceable. Because to you, it is.
At Hefez & Sons, all our repair work happens right here in our Sharon workshop. No mysterious trips to "the guy who does repairs." No weeks wondering where your piece actually is. Just our craftsmen, your jewelry, and the same careful attention we bring to everything we create from scratch.
Whether you need a simple resize or a complete restoration of a family heirloom, we're here to help. And we'll take the time to explain exactly what we're doing and why - no jeweler jargon, no rushing you out the door.
Expert Repair Services for Every Need
Ring Repair & Restoration
Rings go through a lot. They're there when you're washing dishes, moving furniture, living your actual life. Over time, even the best-made rings need attention. We handle everything from basic resizing to rebuilding worn shanks that have thinned over years of wear. If your ring has lost its shape or the band is cracking, we can restore it to feel like new again — sometimes even stronger than it was originally.
Stone Replacement & Setting
Lost a stone? It happens, and it's heartbreaking. The good news is we can almost always find a match. We work with suppliers we've trusted for decades to source stones that match your piece in color, clarity, and cut. Then we set them using techniques that'll keep them secure for another generation. We also retip and rebuild worn prongs before they become a problem.
Chain & Bracelet Repair
Broken chains are one of those things that sit in a drawer for way too long because you think they're beyond saving. They're usually not. We repair broken clasps, replace damaged links, and reinforce weak spots. If your chain is beyond repair, we can often remake it or help you choose something new that works with your pendant.
Prong Retightening & Preventive Care
This is the repair nobody thinks about until it's too late. Prongs wear down gradually — you won't notice until the day your stone feels loose. We recommend bringing your rings in once a year so we can check the prongs and tighten them before you lose something irreplaceable. Think of it like changing your oil. A little prevention saves a lot of heartache.
Antique & Heirloom Restoration
Old jewelry has a soul to it. It was made differently, often by hand, sometimes with techniques we don't even use anymore. When we restore antique pieces, we're careful to preserve what makes them special — the hand engraving, the milgrain details, the patina that tells its age. We're not trying to make your grandmother's ring look brand new. We're trying to make it wearable again while keeping its story intact.
Pearl & Bead Restringing
Pearls and delicate beads need to be restrung every few years, especially if you wear them often. The silk thread stretches and weakens over time. We hand-knot each pearl individually so if the strand ever breaks, you'll only lose one pearl instead of watching them all scatter across the floor. It's an old-school technique that takes longer, but it's the right way to do it.
Our Simple Repair Process
Do you work on jewelry that didn't come from your store?
Absolutely. Most of our repair work is actually on jewelry that was made somewhere else - other jewelers, big box stores, inherited pieces, things people bought online or while traveling. We treat every piece with the same care, regardless of where it originated. Bring it in.
Bring It In
Stop by during our hours — no appointment needed for a basic assessment, though you're welcome to call ahead if you want to make sure we have time to really sit down with you. Bring your piece, tell us what's wrong (or what you think might be wrong), and we'll take a look.
We'll Figure Out What It Needs
We'll examine your jewelry carefully and explain what we see. Loose stones, worn prongs, sizing issues, damage — we'll show you everything and talk through what needs to happen. Then we'll give you an honest estimate. No surprises, no hidden fees.
We Do the Work
Once you approve the repair, we get started. Most repairs take one to two weeks, though some complex restorations need more time. We'll give you a realistic timeline upfront. If we run into anything unexpected, we'll call you before we proceed.
You Get It Back Better Than Before
When your piece is finished, we'll give you a call. Come pick it up, and we'll walk you through everything we did. We want you to feel confident that your jewelry is secure, properly repaired, and ready for whatever comes next.
We're Here If You Need Us Again
Jewelry isn't static. It needs occasional maintenance, just like anything else you use and love. Bring your pieces back anytime for a free checkup. We'll make sure everything's still tight and secure, and let you know if anything needs attention before it becomes a problem.
Why Choose Hefez & Sons for Your Repair
Everything Stays Here When you leave your jewelry with us, it goes about fifteen feet - from our front counter to our workshop in back. We don't ship repairs out to some facility three states away. Our craftsmen are right here, which means faster turnaround and you can actually talk to the person doing the work.
Three Generations of Experience My grandfather started this business. My father learned from him. Now we're here, still doing things the way they taught us - carefully, thoughtfully, with real attention to detail. That kind of experience means we've seen pretty much everything, and we know how to handle it.
We'll Actually Explain What's Wrong When we assess your jewelry, we'll show you exactly what needs attention and why. If we think you have options - repair versus replace, different approaches - we'll walk through all of them. No pressure, no sales pitch. Just information so you can make the choice that feels right.
Honest About What's Possible Sometimes the most honest thing we can tell you is that a repair doesn't make sense. If your piece is so damaged that fixing it costs more than replacing it, we'll say so. We'd rather keep your trust than make a quick buck on a repair you'll regret.
FAQs
Questions People Actually Ask
How much is this going to cost me?
It depends entirely on what needs to be done. Every repair is different, and costs vary based on the complexity of the work, materials needed, and time involved. We'll always give you a detailed estimate before starting work, and we won't proceed without your approval. If there's a budget you're working with, tell us upfront - we'll let you know what's possible and help you make the best decision for your situation.
Can you resize my ring if it has stones all the way around?
Usually, yes, but it's more complicated than resizing a plain band. Eternity bands and rings with continuous stone settings require special techniques to resize without disturbing the stones. We'll examine your specific ring and let you know what's possible. Some rings can only be sized up or down by half a size or so. If your ring can't be safely resized, we'll talk through alternatives.
My ring is really old and I'm worried it's too fragile. Can you work on it?
Old doesn't necessarily mean fragile, and we've restored plenty of Victorian and Edwardian pieces that are over a century old. That said, some antique jewelry is indeed delicate, and we'll always be upfront about the risks. Sometimes the safest option is minimal intervention - securing what's loose but not trying to make it look brand new. We'll assess your piece and give you our honest recommendation about what it can handle.
I lost the diamond from my engagement ring. Will insurance cover the replacement?
That depends on your policy. Many homeowners or renters insurance policies include jewelry coverage, but you'll need to check your specific policy and file a claim. Some people have separate jewelry insurance through companies like Jewelers Mutual. We're happy to provide documentation and estimates for your insurance claim. And if insurance doesn't cover it or you don't have coverage, we'll help you find a replacement stone that works with your budget.
Can you match the diamond I lost exactly?
We can get very, very close. Diamonds are graded on the 4 Cs - cut, color, clarity, and carat weight. If you have documentation from your original stone (like a certificate), that makes matching easier. If not, we'll look at your remaining stones (if it's a three-stone ring or halo setting) and match them. Even without perfect information, we can usually find something that blends seamlessly. You won't be able to tell the difference once it's set.
